Jeremiah From Zanche

The Miramonti Park Hotel was acquired in 1992 by Clara and Geremia Da Zanche

Today, the hotel is run by their sons Dario and Lucio and assisted by their father Geremia.

I was born in a small village in the middle of the Dolomite mountains during the Second World War, on Christmas Day in 1941.

The memories of my early childhood are somewhat faded, but since the war, certain things and certain feelings accompany you all your life.

I had the good fortune to be born in a clean and tidy, I dare say almost 'fairy-tale' country in the midst of green meadows and the majesty of the fir, larch and beech forests where every family owned an entire house and where the word 'pollution' was unknown. Solidarity and commitment to families who had less was the norm, not the exception.

As a child, I attended the only school in the village with classes of five to ten children per class, and the middle school was 20 km from my village. I walked through meadows and forests often barefoot so as not to wear out the soles of my shoes, partly for pleasure, partly to procure firewood and fodder for the cow, the only real source of food. In this context, the passion for the mountains and climbing is a logical consequence.

As soon as I turned thirteen with my father I went to stuff chairs, in delight 'counts'. It was very hard work; as an emigrant you worked house to house and slept in barns. That winter was the year 1956, the coldest of the century when the poplars were bursting from the cold.

In later years I was in the seminary in Rome but I missed my mountains.

Because of the proximity of my village to Fiera di Primiero and Passo Rolle, where I often went climbing, I got to know the Soccorso Alpino (Alpine Rescue) financiers who took rock, ski and ice courses. As soon as I turned seventeen, I applied for enlistment, obtaining my mother's consent with no small effort. The nine years I spent in the Guardia di Finanza, most of them in Alpine Rescue, were unforgettable years.

In 1965, I was sent to Bormio, where I met a pretty young girl of skiing promise and natural talent. For several decades, my wife Clara and I ran a small hotel in the centre of Bormio.

In 1992, after years of professional satisfaction and with many sacrifices, we bought the Miramonti Park Hotel, which I still run with my sons Dario and Lucio.

The rest is recent history.

Dario From Zanche,

He is a former athlete, ski instructor and airplane and helicopter pilot.

So, if you need to get familiar with skis, or you want some technical advice, he is the right person!

And if you want to experience the thrill of a helicopter flight, Dario will be happy to show you Bormio from another (and high!) perspective!

Born in Bormio in 1974. Hotelier, former athlete, ski instructor and all-round flying enthusiast.

He graduated from the hotel-management school in Bormio with the title of Tecnico delle Attività Alberghiere (hotel business technician) and still continues with passion and dedication the art of hospitality that has distinguished the family for generations with his brother Lucio and his father Geremia, inspired by the precious teaching of his mother Clara who sadly passed away in the first decade of the new millennium.

In the last decade, in addition to running the family's historic hotel, the Miramonti Park Hotel in Bormio, the business has also expanded to Romagna, Riccione and Santa Caterina Valfurva.

In 2000, he founded the Comitato Organizzatore Manifestazioni Bormiesi (Bormio Events Organising Committee) through which he organises national and international events of a touristic and sporting nature.

Thanks to the union with Francesca, who also works with Dario in hotels, Pietro and Alessia were born in 2008 and 2011 respectively.

The passion for the mountains, sport and competitiveness is a common denominator in the Da Zanche family, and his father already put Dario on skis at the age of 3. He was a member of the Bormio ski club for several years, achieving good results, especially in the fast disciplines.

At the age of 17, a knee problem fortunately resolved prevented him from continuing his competitive activities, and in 1995 he became a ski instructor affiliated with the Bormio National Ski School and a trainer within the Bormio Ski Club in which he was an athlete for many years.

Even today, compatibly with business commitments, he still teaches and accompanies guests of the family hotels to ski on the slopes at home.

From a very young age, however, Dario was captivated by another exciting passion; flying.

At the age of 17, he obtained the ultralight aircraft pilot's certificate; this was followed by the glider pilot's certificate, the private pilot's certificate for motor-powered aircraft (PPLA) and the aerobatics specialisation in both specialities, participating in a few national competitions. In 2017, he also obtained a licence to fly remotely piloted aircraft (drone) for commercial purposes. In all these years, he has clocked up more than 2000 flight hours and in the first half of 2018, to complete a dream he has pursued since he was a boy, he is scheduled to obtain his private helicopter pilot's licence.(PPLH)

Lucio From Zanche,

He is a successful car driver, a multiple Italian historical Rally champion and, in 2016, a European Champion with Porsche; moreover, a Ferrari test driver and safe driving instructor for Scuderia De Adamich.

Keen on bike riding and trekking, he would be happy to accompany you across the pathways of the Valley.

And, if you are also fond of cars, you can spend a day on four wheels with Lucio and share the thrill of driving on hairpin bends or get some technical driving advice. In the winter you can practice with him on the ice rink at the Ice Driving School in Livigno.

Lucio Da Zanche, born in Bormio, born in 1970, has always been an entrepreneur in the tourism sector, is an established racing driver and safe driving instructor for the De Adamich racing stable.

Over the years he has been involved in the management of some of the family businesses, including the Taulà restaurant, later to become Filò, the San Vitale hotel and the Nazionale hotel.

Today, together with Dario and his father, he runs the family business, where he transfers his passion for cars and engines with projects related to it, among them the 'Petrol Head' project linked to the Miramonti Park, which he likes to call the first Petrol Head Hotel in the Alps.

He is also the owner of DazzainMotion, a company dedicated to the organisation of events related to the automotive industry and which is linked to Lucio's great passion for rallies, where he has built his long and prestigious career as a driver, in Valtellina among the most successful ever.

He made his debut with karts in 1988, but his 'real' racing career began in 1994, still on the track with karts. In the speciality he achieved numerous successes until 2001.

In 2000 he made his debut in the world of rallies, immediately distinguishing himself with historic cars. Rallies became his main racing activity at the wheel of the prestigious PORSCHE brand cars. With the 911 models prepared by PENTACAR, Lucio grinds out victories and important placings in the FIA European Championship and Italian Championship races, soon becoming one of the reference drivers on the continental scene.

An eclectic driver, his clean and profitable driving is also at its best aboard the powerful and spectacular hill-climb prototypes with which he successfully competes in the Italian Championship (the CIVM), where he competes starting with the Trofeo Danti in 2003 and later in selected events.

Between PISTA, SALITA and RALLY, the consecration among the greats of this last speciality arrived in 2011 with the conquest of the title of absolute Italian Champion, which the talent from Bormio repeated the following year, in 2012, and came close in 2013 (when he still won the title of Italian Champion of Group 2). However, the historic trio is only postponed: with an imperious ride Da Zanche conquers it in 2016.

In between, in 2014, the Valtellina champion launched the challenge to the European Championship. A real adventure that ended with a triumph in the last round in Hungary after exciting duels against all the Nordic specialists and numerous victories and placings at the top of the most important rallies throughout the continent: Sanremo, Elba, Eastern Alps, San Marino, Greece, Finland, Ireland, Spain and Hungary.

The Continental event also saw him play a major role in the 2017 season, where Lucio achieved third place in the 2nd grouping, but above all will be remembered for the heated and exciting challenge with his rival friend and former F1 driver Eric Comas.
