Cars

  • from Milan: Tangenziale Nord exit Cinisello; Freeway to Lecco up to Colico; SS 38 for Sondrio, Tirano, Bormio.
  • from Brescia: A4 motorway exit Brescia Ovest towards Lake Iseo; SS42 Breno, Edolo; SS39 for Aprica, Tirano; SS 38 for Bormio
  • from Bergamo: SS 342 to Cisano Bergamasco (about 17km), then SS 639 for 10km to Lecco. Then continue on the freeway to Colico, SS 38 for Sondrio, Tirano, Bormio.
  • from Zernez: La Drossa - Tunnel “Munt la Schera” Drossa - P.te del Gallo, Livigno; SS301 for Bormio. Tunnel open all year with tolls (for more information www.livigno.eu) from St. Moritz: Bernina Pass, Tirano, Bormio.

IMPORTANT During the winter season the Alpine passes (Passo Stelvio, Passo Gavia and Passo Forcola) they're closed. It is therefore necessary to pay attention to the directions given by satellite navigators which do not take into account such closures.

Train

  • from Milan: with the Milan - Lecco - Sondrio - Tirano railway line. (2 hours and 30 min. Approx. With Trenitalia trains www.trenitialia.it) From Milan it is also possible to reach Valtellina from the convenient city railway stations of San Cristoforo, Romolo, Porta Romana, Lambrate and Greco Pirelli.

Bus

  • from Tirano you can reach Bormio using the bus service. (www.busperego.com)
  • from St. Moritz in Switzerland you can reach Tirano with the Rhaetian Railway (red train) and then continue to Bormio with the bus service.

Transfer from the airports: during the whole winter season the service is active to and from the airports of: Milan Malpensa - Bergamo Orio al Serio - Munich for reservations and information: www.mtbus.it or directly at the hotel.

In summer

Cars

  • from Milan: Tangenziale Nord exit at Cinisello; Highway towards Lecco up to Colico; then SS 38 towards Sondrio, Tirano, Bormio.
  • from Brescia: A4 motorway, Brescia Ovest exit towards Lake Iseo; SS42 Breno, Edolo; SS39 for Aprica, Tirano; SS 38 for Bormio.
  • from Bergamo: SS 342 to Cisano Bergamasco (about 17 km), then SS 639 for 10 km to Lecco. Then continue on the highway for Colico, SS 38 for Sondrio, Tirano, Bormio.
  • from Zernez: La Drossa - “Munt la Schera” Drossa tunnel - P.te del Gallo, Livigno; SS301 for Bormio.

  • from St. Moritz: Bernina Pass, Forcolapass, Livigno, Bormio. from St. Moritz: Bernina Pass, Tirano, Bormio.

In the summer season it is possible to reach Bormio also through some fascinating alpine passes:

  • Passo dello Stelvio at 2758 m above sea level. M. from the South Tyrolean side (Prato-Passo dello Stelvio) and from Switzerland (Santa Maria) with descent to Bormio (open until November).
  • Passo Gavia at 2651 m, accessible from Ponte di Legno with descent to Santa Caterina Valfurva and then to Bormio (open until November).
  • Passo della Forcola at an altitude of 2315 meters can be reached from St. Moritz or Tirano with a descent to Livigno and then to Bormio (open until November).

Train

  • from Milan: with the Milan - Lecco - Sondrio - Tirano railway line. (about 2.5 hours on Trenitalia trains www.trenitialia.it). From Milan it is also possible to reach Valtellina from the economic railway stations of San Cristoforo, Romolo, Porta Romana, Lambrate and Greco Pirelli.
  • From St. Moritz in Switzerland it is possible to reach Tirano with the Rhaetian Railway (red trains) and then take the bus to Bormio by bus.
  • from Tirano it is possible to reach Bormio by bus. (For timetables and services, see www.busperego.com) Bormio is reached by comfortable buses from Milan (via Lecco-Sondrio), the Adriatic coast and the Ligurian coast.
